Description

AP Professionals has partnered with a manufacturing company in search of a CNC Machinist. AP Must have at least 5 years of CNC experience responsible for setting up, conducting dimensional inspections, and operating a wide range of equipment, such as live-tool lathes, Swiss lathes, grinders, EDMs, mills, and machining centers, during production.

This is a full-time, direct hire opportunity.

Responsibilities

  • Set up CNC equipment independently, including proving out new processes and making all necessary adjustments to obtain an approved First Article Inspection Report.
  • Perform full dimensional inspections, including measuring lengths, diameters, radii, finishes, and all positional and geometric requirements, both for First Article preparation and in-process inspections.
  • Run production quantities while maintaining process capability and meeting productivity standards.
  • Troubleshoot and improve processes during both setup and production stages.
  • Work with teammates to ensure the team meets shared objectives.
  • Perform routine maintenance of equipment.
  • Use software tools to manage tooling inventory, review standards, collect Statistical Process Control (SPC) data, and capture job performance data.
  • Keep the team's work area clean and free from safety hazards.

Education

  • High School Diploma/GED required.
  • Associates Degree in Industrial Technologies preferred.

Experience

  • 5+ years of CNC programming/machinist experience.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics

  • Demonstrate strong blueprint reading and comprehension skills. Understanding GD&T per ASME Y14.5 is a significant advantage.
  • Possess skills in CNC setup and operation functions. Knowledge of programming is an additional benefit.
  • Exhibit a strong knowledge of production tooling selection and utilization, including spindle tooling and cutting tools.
  • Excel in common inspection and gaging techniques, such as micrometers, bore gages, height gages, indicators, thread gaging, profilometers, and optical comparators. Having a working knowledge of CMMs, vision systems, and other metrology equipment is an advantage.
  • Be familiar with SPC data collection and analysis as a tool for maintaining process capability.
  • Have the ability to meet productivity and quality standards while working with a diverse range of components, materials, and equipment.
  • Possess basic computer and software skills. Proficiency in CAD/CAM, SPC, ERP, inventory management, or typical office applications is an added advantage.
  • Must be proficient in Solid Works and Mastercam software.
