Description

AP Professionals is partnering with a not-for-profit company seeking two accounting assistants to join their team.  One location is in Geneva, NY and the other location is on the west side of Rochester.  Both positions are a hybrid schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in preparing cash receipt reports and daily bank deposits.
  • Ensure deposits are balanced accurately before entering into the general ledger and making bank deposits.
  • Record cash receipt activities for general ledger posting.
  • Perform basic accounting tasks as assigned.
  • Support the administration of program reimbursement contracts by gathering necessary information.
  • Provide assistance with accounts payable processes as needed.
  • Identify issues in financial processes or internal controls and suggest improvements for efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Adhere to company’s internal control policies and support external audit processes.
  • Conduct various financial analyses as needed.
  • Attend meetings and training sessions as required.
  • Comprehend and promote company’s Mission, Vision, Values, and Strategic Plan.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
  • Reports directly to senior Finance Department staff.

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree minimum; equivalent combination of education and experience considered.

Experience

  • 1-3 years of financial or billing experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills, with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics

  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and proficiency in financial/accounting software.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize duties.
  • Willingness to promote cooperation and teamwork through positive communication.
  • Proficiency with computers and software applications, especially Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret data and resolve problems.
  • Valid NYS Driver’s License and acceptable driving record.
  • Reliable, registered, and insured vehicle.
  • Ability to travel in all weather conditions across the counties served.
  • Compliance with federal and state laws, including those governing confidentiality, privacy, program, billing, and documentation standards.
  • Adherence to company’s corporate compliance and ethics program.
  • Commitment to company’s Mission Statement.
  • Ability to use hands for various tasks, including operating a motor vehicle.
  • Capability to stand, sit, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, and reach.
  • Ability to climb stairs and reach above or below shoulder level.
  • Occasionally lift or move objects up to 10 lbs.
  • Sit at a desk or in a vehicle for extended periods.
  • Ability to read, write, and interpret written documents with or without reasonable accommodation.
