Description

AP Professionals has partnered with a local real estate company to find an Accounts Receivable/Accounts Payable (AR/AP) Assistant. The AR/AP Assistant will play a critical role in supporting the Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable Supervisors and ensuring smooth financial operations. The ideal candidate will act as a full backup to the Supervisors, performing all essential functions in their absence, and assist with additional tasks as needed within the Accounting Department. This position is fully onsite.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a full backup for both Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable Supervisors, performing all related duties during their absence.
  • Support the Accounts Receivable process, including invoicing, payment processing, and customer account reconciliation.
  • Assist with the Accounts Payable process, including invoice entry, vendor payment preparation, and maintaining accurate records.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, including US GAAP and company policies.
  • Assist with preparing and filing 1099 forms and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Utilize corporate accounting software (Yardi experience preferred) to manage financial records and transactions efficiently.
  • Collaborate with the Accounting Department on various tasks and projects, as directed by the Controller.
  • Maintain organized and accurate financial documentation.
  • Perform other accounting duties and assist with special projects as assigned.

Education

  • Associate's degree in Accounting or equivalent experience.

Experience

  • Experience in Accounts Receivable and/or Accounts Payable roles.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics

  • Knowledge of basic bookkeeping principles and US GAAP Accounting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and strong general computer skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Familiarity with 1099 requirements and corporate accounting software (Yardi experience a plus).
  • Background in commercial real estate accounting.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to work.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
