Description

Our client is in search of a professional who can provide a level of sophistication and experience to the newly created role.  Working independently, this position collaborates daily with the Managing Partner and Controller.  This is an excellent opportunity to apply your skills and expertise and a growing company that trusts and enables.  This position is based in Rochester and has a hybrid set up.

 

 

Responsibilities

The Asset Manager reports to the Managing Partner(s) and closely with the Controller and is responsible for accurate, complete, objective reporting of portfolio status and risk exposure to upper management. This position is expected to collaborate closely with each Property Management Company and the Controller to manage the financial and operational aspects of a growing rental portfolio, which consists of affordable, market rate apartments and commercial space. The Asset Manager will maintain control over budgets and costs, schedule, and associated risks, be responsible for all financial, reporting, debt administration, and contract review for the portfolio of properties, and participate in the planning, tracking, analysis and reporting on development projects of varying complexity in multiple geographical locations.

 

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, finance, or business. Masters preferred but not required.

Experience

  • Oversee the performance of a portfolio of properties located across the US
  • Manage the implementation of strategies to maximize operational performance, enhance cash flow and improve property valuation for disposition, re-financing, and re-syndication
  • Work with the leadership team to assess the financial position of projects in development, to identify budgetary risks and to advise risk mitigation strategies
  • Manage deliverables related to various filings including investor reporting, property tax valuations, and project audits and valuations
  • Work with each Property Management Company to ensure properties achieve required annual benchmarks and cash flow distributions
  • Generate monthly and quarterly reports for management including but not limited to P&L, vacancy, capital needs assessment, REO schedules and other long-range cash distribution projections
  • Present and communicate objective updates and recommendations to upper management pertaining to portfolio status and risk exposure

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics

Qualifications and Desired Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of portfolio level control structures/practices and familiarity with real estate development
  • Experience working with Property Management Companies
  • Expertise in financial analysis, schedule analysis, modeling and budgeting methodologies
  • Demonstrated success working in a fast-paced, project-centric environment
  • Extremely well-organized and capable of managing multiple, often conflicting, priorities
  • Understanding of project/property management and business processes and systems
  • Experience developing, enhancing and implementing processes and tools
  • Knowledge of the low-income housing tax credit program

Skills:

  • 5-7 years of relevant work experience in real estate development, property management and/or finance
  • Strong understanding of real estate investment analysis
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and negotiation skills
  • Established ability to collaborate with a variety of people in various roles with different leadership styles
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and critical thinking skills
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
