Description

Leading a team, this assistant controller will oversee all of the accounting activities to include financial reporting, a/p and expense management, and internal controls. This position requires a team oriented leader and a strong technical background.

Responsibilities

  • Manages the monthly  financial close and reporting process with accuracy.
  • Provides technical accounting research an opinions for GAAP compliant accounting treatment.
  • Lead coordination for year-end financial statement audit.
  • Comply with federal, state, and local tax filings, including timely quarterly installment payments.
  • Ensure that all accounts payable, taxes, and debt payments are paid in a timely manner.
  • Ensure that general ledger account reconciliations are completed on a timely basis.
  • Maintain strong system of internal controls and orderly accounting system.
  • Maintain and documents system of accounting policies and procedures.
  • Foster an environment of development and growth to accomplish goals and objectives.
  • Monitor compliance with debt covenants.
  • Lead technological improvement projects to modernize the accounting and finance functions.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • Experience with Big 4 accounting firm, preferred
  • CPA required

Experience

  • At least ten years of experience with financial statement preparation and analysis
  • Proven analysis and reconciliation of financial data with attention to detail.
  • Prior supervisory experience

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics

  • Strong technical knowledge of US GAAP and tax code
  • Ability to identify and assess risk and implement effective internal controls.
  • Exercise sound judgement in performing subjective accounting analysis.
  • Demonstrates customer service skills while being an effective business partner to operations.
  • Effectively communicate with cross-functional teams and leadership.
  • Possess strong administrative and analytical skills.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all privileged information.
  • Work independently and successfully as a team member.
