AP Professionals has partnered with a local organization to find an Assistant Controller. Newly created position for the team. Extremely stable organization that offers tremendous work-life balance! The Assistant Controller will oversee various accounting, financial, and operational functions, working closely with the finance team to ensure effective management of the firm's accounting systems and accurate preparation of general ledger records and reports. This role also includes supervisory responsibilities for 3 direct reports. Onsite to become acclimated, then hybrid flexibility.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee the Finance department's operations, including accounts payable, bank reconciliations, journal entries, and general ledger balances.
  • Implement efficient policies to streamline workflow, coordinate month-end close, and prepare monthly financial reports.
  • Coordinate with external auditors for financial and benefit plan audits, interpret changes in accounting rules, and ensure timely, accurate financial reporting.
  • Monitor and analyze cash management operations, prepare cash flow forecasts, and approve bank reconciliations and miscellaneous administrative expenses.
  • Collaborate with IT to maintain financial systems, create consistent internal reports, and develop pricing models for client fee arrangements.
  • Analyze financial reports to provide recommendations for achieving profit goals, improve reporting efficiency, and maintain practice group reports.
  • Evaluate and implement internal control processes, develop standardized metric reporting, and enhance reporting templates for financial modeling and forecasting.
  • Maintain a reporting schedule, document procedures, assist in hiring and training Finance staff, and complete special projects as assigned.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance with at least 7 years of progressive experience, including a supervisory role; OR
  • Master's degree in Accounting or Finance with at least 3 years of progressive experience, including a supervisory role.
  • CPA strongly desired.

Experience

  • 3+ years of general ledger accounting experience
  • prior experience supervising employees
