Description

AP has partnered with a local non-profit looking for a Controller. The Controller will carry out accounting functions and support multi-departmental reporting, grant management and budgeting requirements. This role will perform professional level work in analyzing accounting and budgetary data, preparing internal financial reports.

Responsibilities

  • Present timely, accurate financial information to the Executive Leadership Team, Division Directors, Finance Committee of the Board, and Board of Directors
  • Manage financial records retention
  • Monitor monthly performance, establish budgets in collaboration with executive leadership team and division directors, create key performance metrics, communicate actual performance versus budget, and forecast
  • Analyze and proactively problem-solve in collaboration with the leadership team
  • Monitor and forecast the cash position weekly
  • Establish the necessary policies and procedures for spending approvals in collaboration with the Leadership Teams
  • Assists in the preparation of the Agency's grant budgets
  • Submit financial reports as required by the funding sources
  • Coordinate the preparation of Federal and State Tax Returns
  • Oversee payroll process for all employees
  • Responsible for the financial aspects of all agency transactions
  • Establish and maintain lines of communication with bankers, monitor and assess bank arrangements, manage reporting required by banking relationships, and help plan for capital needs
  • Oversee and participate in the preparation and coordination of the Agency's Annual Audit
  • Ensure internal controls are in place within the finance team for all payroll processes including, but not limited to, processing of accurate payroll deductions and employee reimbursements
  • Responsible for providing leadership to the finance team
  • Prepare statutory monthly close and financial reports. Ensure audits are completed on time
  • Become familiar with best practices in the not-for-profit world and implement improvements where needed
  • Manage the monthly closing process
  • Prepare, review, and analyze account reconciliations

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or related field
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license preferred but not required

Experience

  • 5-7 years of related experience
