Description

AP Professionals has partnered with a recreation company in Canandaigua, NY in search of a highly organized and experienced Controller. This role will be responsible for managing financial operations, generating cash flow statements, maintaining financial records, providing crucial insights to support business decisions, and working closely with the management team to ensure the financial health and efficiency of operations. The ideal candidate will have expertise in QuickBooks, a solid understanding of double-entry accounting, and experience managing a small team. This is a hybrid position with 4 days in-office and 1 day remote.

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day accounting functions.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate financial records, including the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.
  • Generate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, including balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and cash flow statements.
  • Oversee the preparation of monthly cash flow statements to provide insight into financial performance and forecast future cash needs.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting principles, tax regulations, and company policies.
  • Supervise and mentor a small team of accounting staff, providing guidance and support in their professional development.
  • Review and manage budget processes and cost control measures.
  • Manage inventory tracking and reconciliation for operations.
  • Work closely with the management team to provide financial analysis and support in decision-making.
  • Assist with tax preparation and audits as needed.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

Experience

  • At least 3 years of experience in an accounting role.
  • At least 2 years of experience in a leadership position.
  • Proven experience as a Controller.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics

  • Strong proficiency in QuickBooks and other accounting software.
  • In-depth knowledge of double-entry accounting.
  • Experience in preparing financial reports, including cash flow statements.
  • Ability to manage and lead a small team.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
