Controller

Fast track opportunity to the CFO position with a successful engineering firm! The Controller will have full-scope accounting responsibilities from transactional work to financial reporting. Work closely with and learn from the current CFO, who plans to retire within the next 1-2 years. A self-starter who's comfortable with autonomy will be successful in this role long-term. • Manage all accounting operations including Billing, A/R, A/P, GL, Project Accounting, Inventory, and Payroll
• Be proficient in Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
• Assist the CFO in the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and report variances
• Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements
• Coordinate the preparation of regulatory reporting
• Manage month-end and year-end close process
• Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting
• Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings
• Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls

• bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
• CPA or MBA preferred, but not required

• 5+ years of overall accounting and finance experience
• experience with the close process and creating financial statements
• comfortable in Excel
• prior experience with QuickBooks and Tableau a big plus
