Description

A multi-industry dynamic group of companies spanning real estate, construction, manufacturing, to name a few. We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Controller to manage our accounting systems, financial reporting, and budgeting for these diverse businesses. As Controller, you will play a pivotal role in our success by ensuring accurate financial records, payroll management, and robust analysis for all our ventures.

As the Controller, you will be responsible for setting up and overseeing the accounting systems for multiple businesses within our portfolio. These businesses include a real estate holding company, a real estate management company with tenant billings, a water treatment company with construction-based accounting and billing, a metal finishing company, and a sports facility with fees for using the space and trainers. You will report directly to the owners and provide crucial financial insights that will drive the decision-making process.

Responsibilities

Accounting Systems Management:

  • Establish and maintain comprehensive accounting systems for all business entities.
  • Ensure that accounting processes adhere to industry standards and regulations.

Financial Reporting:

  • Prepare and deliver accurate and timely financial reports, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
  • Generate custom reports for each business segment to facilitate decision-making.

Payroll Management:

  • Oversee payroll processes, ensuring timely and accurate compensation for all employees.
  • Address payroll-related issues, deductions, and tax compliance.

Budgeting and Forecasting:

  • Develop and manage budgets for each business entity.
  • Collaborate with department heads to create annual financial forecasts and monitor budget compliance.

Margin and Profit Analysis:

  • Analyze financial data to identify areas for cost savings and revenue optimization.
  • Provide recommendations and strategies to improve business profitability.

Compliance and Audit:

  • Ensure all financial operations comply with local, state, and federal regulations.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA preferred).

Experience

  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive accounting and financial management experience.
  • Proven experience with multiple business entities, preferably in a diverse industry.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics

  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
  • Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, or similar).
  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
