Description

AP is partnering with one of Rochester’s regional health planning organizations in search of a Data Analyst. The ideal candidate possesses the ability to support diverse tasks, requests, and technologies, serving as a valuable resource for all research analysts within the organization. Additionally, the Data Analyst will contribute significantly to the design and implementation of new datasets and conduct proof of concepts to evaluate data management tools and technologies. This is a remote role, but candidates must be local to the Rochester, NY area.

This is a full-time, direct hire opportunity.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and enhance the database structure and tables to meet the organization's analytical and reporting requirements.
  • Provide on-demand data and query support to the Research and Analytics (R&A) team.
  • Establish and manage a repository of SQL scripts to fulfill the standard needs of the R&A team.
  • Devise and execute Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) processes for new and existing projects and data sources.
  • Construct comprehensive reports for community health metrics using a systematic approach.
  • Identify and exploit opportunities to leverage current and emerging technologies to improve and streamline the R&A team's data work.
  • Develop and implement protocols and quality control procedures to ensure the accuracy and integrity of collected and stored data.
  • Keep the data documentation, such as data dictionaries and entity relationship diagrams, up-to-date and accessible.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in a relevant field such as computer science, data science, or business analytics. A combination of relevant experience and education will be taken into consideration in lieu of a degree.

Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a comparable role, involving the management and analysis of extensive data sets within an SQL environment.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics

  • Proficiency in SSIS and experience with ETL processes using Microsoft SQL tools and technologies.
  • Familiarity with MS SQL Server 2014/2019, Tableau, ArcGIS, and MS Office products is highly desired.
  • Development experience in Python, R, or Java would be advantageous.
  • Exposure to Microsoft Azure or AWS database and storage technologies.
  • Proficiency in using web-based video conferencing systems such as Zoom is required.
  • Ability to work remotely.
  • Willingness and ability to travel locally as necessary.
  • Extended periods of sitting and working on a computer are expected. Typing on a keyboard and reading from printed materials or a computer monitor are routine tasks.
  • Occasionally, there may be a need to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Additionally, occasional lifting and/or moving of objects weighing up to 10 pounds may be required.
