Description

AP Professionals has partnered with an optics manufacturer looking to add a Database Administrator to their team. As a member of the application development team, the database administrator will assume the crucial role of overseeing the upkeep and management of SQL Server instances in the live production environment, alongside the data warehouse and offsite disaster recovery instances associated with production systems.

This is a full-time, direct hire position.

This position is not eligible for VISA sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Perform database performance tuning and optimization to guarantee that all database servers meet the performance, reliability, and scalability demands.
  • Establish and sustain replicated databases and data warehouses.
  • Manage database administration tasks, including backup, recovery, and archiving.
  • Develop proactive monitoring and preventive action systems to ensure maximum availability.
  • Collaborate with consulting and internal resources for development initiatives.

Experience

  • Accumulated 3-5 years of experience as a Database Administrator (DBA) with a focus on Microsoft SQL Server. (SQL Server 2019 experience is mandatory).

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics

  • Proficiency with global ERP systems
  • Demonstrated expertise in configuring, implementing, and supporting high-availability SQL Server environments.
  • Proven experience in DTS/SSIS administration, index management, performance optimization, and replication.
  • Active involvement in the establishment and development of an integrated information security strategy.
  • Proficient in enforcing system, security, and database change standards.
  • Comprehensive understanding of contemporary hardware systems, disk subsystems, including RAID and SAN setups commonly employed in fault-tolerant production environments.
  • Skillful at proactively identifying, troubleshooting, and resolving issues within live database systems.
  • Competent in overseeing all aspects of database maintenance plans, encompassing backups, indexing, integrity checks, and consistency validation.
  • Familiarity with SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) and excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to deliver presentations and training.
  • Proficiency in computer skills, particularly with MS Office applications.
