Description

AP Professionals is working with a local organization and their search to find a Benefits Specialist. This position is temporary but could be direct hire for the right person! With open enrollment right around the corner, the organization needs someone who has strong benefit experience and knowledge to assist in this process.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the administration of all agency benefits programs, including health, dental, life, H.S.A, vision, and voluntary insurances.
  • Recommends benefit programs to management by studying employee requirements, trends, and developments in benefits offered by other organizations.
  • Develops, coordinates, and delivers benefit presentations for monthly new employee orientation and informal presentations throughout the year including but not exclusive of annual open enrollment.
  • Partners with Benefit Broker and other benefit providers regularly to identify cost effective benefit strategies that meet employee needs.
  • Manages annual Open Enrollment process by establishing annual timeline, sets up OE benefit information meetings, employee communications, sets up educational meetings as needed throughout the year, etc.
  • Serves as the dedicated Benefit resource to all staff, responding promptly and courteously to information requests and concerns.
  • Assists new employees with the benefit enrollment process, qualifying event changes/updates and other significant changes impacting employee benefits.
  • Set up health deductions and maintain voluntary benefits enrollment.
  • Set up Health Savings Accounts for new hires and during orientation.
  • Maintains and processes all position control forms, status changes and terminations.
  • Periodically audit employee new hire folders for accurate completion in accordance with governing DOH regulations.
  • Oversees COBRA invoicing and payment coordination between payroll and our COBRA administrator.
  • Serves as a resource to employees for COBRA questions as needed.
  • Leads company compliance with government reporting and notification inducing EEOC, ERISA, ACA, and Medicare (monthly, quarterly, and annually).
  • Reconciles monthly health insurance, accidental death and dismemberment and life insurance bills.
  • Reviews billings for accuracy, codes, and advances for payment.
  • Resolves discrepancies with carriers, payroll, and the company.
  • Responsible for processing unemployment claims according to the organization’s guidelines.
  • Identifies any legal requirements and government regulations affective benefits.
  • Ensure that all policies, procedures, and reporting are complying.
  • Assists in obtaining and evaluating benefit contract proposals.

Education

  • Bachelors degree in Business/Human Resources preferred.

Experience

  • Ideally a minimum of five (5) years’ experience in benefit administration.
  • Healthcare experience preferred.
  • Fluency with ATS’s and HRIS systems required.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Expertise with all social media platforms.
