Description

A leading not-for-profit in Rochester is seeking a Director of Financial Reporting due to an upcoming retirement.  This opportunity will support the entity's various affordable housing initiatives and provide leadership to a committed finance team responsible for the financial reporting, analysis, internal control environment, and cashflow management.  This organization is seeking an energetic and passionate leader who has sound financial skills and a desire to make a difference in communities through providing affordable housing options.

Responsibilities

  • Provide oversight to accounting procedures that support real estate development projects that maintains compliance standards and properly managed budgets to ensure costs are accurate, proper, and reasonable.
  • Manages relationships with banks, other involved parties relative to loans and funding sources supporting projects.
  • Provides financial reports and clear communication of the presented results and underlying support- to all involved entities as requested or required in accordance to agreements.
  • Manages cash flow.
  • Supervise a team of accounting professionals that handle the daily, monthly, and annual accounting functions associated with the property management and real estate development operations.
  • Participates with organizational leadership to promote strategic objectives.
  • Provides guidance to other departments regading internal controls and opportunities for improvement.

Education

This position requires a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree with an accounting or finance major.

Experience

The organization is open to a candidate with a minimum of 5 years of total experience with progressive responsibilities in accounting and financial reporting.  A minimum of 3 years of experience with real estate development accounting and affordable housing is strongly desired. Prior supervision / leadership is also preferred.

  • Possess the ability to manage a complex financial reporting system for the business operations.
  • Have advanced knowledge and comprehension of applicable accounting principles, auditing, financial analysis, business management,cash management, internal controls, and software and program compliance.
  • Able to manage, monitor, and develop talent.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office products and the YARDI software system.
