Description

AP Professionals has partnered with a company located on the west side of Rochester in search of a Engineering Manager. This individual has overall responsibility and accountability for the performance of this location as well as all engineering work.  Carries full P&L and balance sheet responsibility.   Also carries full engineering responsibility including quoting, design, production engineering support and project management of mold builds.

This is a full-time, direct hire opportunity.

Responsibilities

  • Replies to customer inquiries with proposals for molds and production pieces.
  • Reviews in-coming orders to ensure that customer requirements are understood, can be met and are adequately communicated to manufacturing and that pricing meets company margin requirements.
  • Monitors manufacturing processes to ensure optimum efficiency on the shop floor and assists in making changes where opportunities for improvement exist. Corrects routings and BOM’s, as necessary, to maintain accuracy.
  • Maintains accuracy in the tool and fixture inventory by monitoring the process of storing these items and making improvements, as necessary.
  • Responsible for generating weekly reports on the progress of projects
  • Lead process techs on continuous improvement and problem solving
  • Develops and implements the documentation required by customers and quality standards.
  • Meets with customer’s quality control and/or engineering personnel to ensure manufacturing conformance with customer product specifications.
  • Communicates project related issues to all involved departments to ensure delivery to customer’s standards.
  • Keeps abreast of the latest developments in project engineering and the plastic injection molding industry.
  • Establishes the financial budget for all new engineering related programs.  This includes but is not limited to new tool builds, engineering changes, replacement tooling, etc.
  • Requisitions needed resources and repairs in support of manufacturing environment.
  • Reviews manufacturing techniques and processes for opportunities to reduce cost, improve quality and increase safety.
  • Create and foster a culture of responsiveness, collaboration, quality, delivery, safety, customer satisfaction and effective management of resources. Instill an attitude of meeting all commitments made to all partners, both internal and external to the company.
  • Coaches, motivates and empowers team members at all levels through demonstrated leadership, open communication and teamwork.  Builds and establishes a work environment conducive to maintaining good employee morale.  Actively engages with employees and maintains a strong floor presence.

Education

  • B.S. preferred in Engineering or related industry

Experience

  • 10+ years of experience in injection mold environment with strong experience in engineering, operations, and lean manufacturing
  • Design & build of mold experience – minimum of 5 years hands on experience

  • Must be able to communicate effectively with customers and manufacturing personnel.
