AP has partnered with a local company looking to add a Financial Analyst - Supply Chain who will report directly to the Director of Finance and Operations. This role is to oversee all the transactional impacts of the Company’s inventory. Working with the Purchasing and Logistics Manager and Warehouse Manager, this person will review and understand all aspects of the Company’s inventory transactions. The role will ensure the operational efficiency of inventory by understanding causal relationships between purchases, sales, shipments and receipts across multiple parts and product lines. This role will provide a risk management view of the department.

Responsibilities

  • Assist and monitor the impacts of excess and obsolete inventory, with plans to reduce inventory quantities on hand to ensure effective use of capital.
  • Develop and share accountability with the team to meet and exceed established goals and objectives.
  • Build framework of internal controls over inventory and inventory related balance sheet accounts to mitigate ongoing risks in inventory.
  • Assist with the management of offsite warehouses, including new spare part warehouses.
  • Prepare ad-hoc analyses as required to understand the Company’s business and develop continuous improvement plans.
  • Provide support to the Warehouse and Purchasing and Logistics Managers to address challenges on stocking, shipments, and customer-facing issues.
  • Prepare and provide a comprehensive report of items shipped not billed which impact stocking analysis, and support for any potential backorders.
  • Oversee the transactional aspects of return logistics and claims for warranty.
  • Perform trend analysis of parts not returned from the field and oversee the returns group to ensure timing between shipping and receiving will not result in inefficient use of capital.
  • Prepare ad-hoc analyses of inventory items associated with inventory turn, product failure rate, and frequency of replacement.

Education

  • Degree in Accounting – with a focus in cost accounting or Degree in Operations - with a background in finance.
  • CMA, CPA or MBA preferred

Experience

  • 3-5+ years in a cost accounting, or inventory accounting role.        

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics

  • Strong problem-solving ability, attention to detail and critical thinking.
  • Effective communicator across many levels of the organization.
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite of products
  • Experience with ERP systems and Service Management Systems.
  • Excellent communication skills – written and verbal.
  • Proven experience with and understanding of inventory transactions.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, and other data analytics tools
  • Ability to manage several concurrent responsibilities and prioritization of tasks.
