AP Professionals has partnered with a local establishment who has been in business for decades looking for a skilled and dedicated Fire Alarm Systems Technician to service, repair, and replace fire alarm systems and related equipment at job sites and customer locations. This role is key to ensuring customer satisfaction through strong collaboration, technical proficiency, and compliance with all applicable codes and standards.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain, repair, and replace fire alarm systems and related equipment based on blueprints and building plans, both on-site and remotely.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve system issues quickly and effectively.
  • Install and securely mount control panels, card readers, sensors, and video cameras, ensuring proper electrical, telephone, and network wiring connections.
  • Collaborate with staff to prepare customer proposals and ensure smooth installations and ongoing maintenance that meet customer expectations.
  • Work directly with manufacturers' technical support to resolve issues and enhance system performance.
  • Test and repair circuits and sensors following wiring diagrams and system specifications.
  • Conduct routine testing of backup batteries, keypads, sirens, and other security components to ensure proper operation and monitoring communication.
  • Review installation sites, work orders, blueprints, and manuals to determine material requirements and plan installation procedures.
  • Ensure all work complies with applicable codes and industry standards.
  • Follow company procedures to address or escalate issues efficiently and promptly.
  • Complete all required documentation, including work orders and expense reports, in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Provide managers and supervisors with regular updates on job progress, issues, and potential concerns.
  • Coordinate communication between internal teams and external partners as needed.
  • Interact with customers on technical issues, offering clear explanations and professional support.

Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in the fire alarm services industry.
  • OSHA 10 certification required.
  • Certifications in Bosch or similar fire alarm system software are preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics

  • Valid New York State driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Proven ability to mentor and support others in the field.
