Description

The Grant Accountant will report to the Finance Director and be responsible for day-to-day accounting functions. An ideal candidate has prior nonprofit or grant accounting experience.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor financial transactions for sponsored projects.
  • Ensure compliance with sponsor guidelines and organizational policies and procedures.
  • Comply with all regulatory requirements to include Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (U.S. GAAP)
  • Prepare accurate and timely monthly financial statements, accruals, journal entries, account reconciliations and variance analysis.
  • Responsibilities include but are not limited to this list of primary responsibilities.

Education

  • BS in Accounting or Business Administration

Experience

  • Three to five years general accounting experience in a not-for-profit setting
  • Hands on post award grant administration experience
  • Knowledge of cost sharing accounting practices
  • Knowledge of Federal Uniform Guidance Regulations
  • In-depth knowledge of non-profit finance and accounting principles, laws, and best practices
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, communication skills and attention to detail
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office and financial management software
