Responsibilities

  • Support the CFO and Assistant Controller with strategic recommendations based on financial analysis, projections, cost identification, and revenue/expense analysis.
  • Assist in preparing materials for board, audit, and finance committees.
  • Manage and process all grant payments accurately and timely, maintaining detailed records.
  • Prepare and review monthly account reconciliations and financial reports related to grants.
  • Ensure grant expenditures comply with agreements and funding requirements.
  • Coordinate with program managers for proper allocation of grant funds and assist in cash flow forecasting.
  • Provide data for receivables aging analysis and assist in collecting outstanding receivables.
  • Post bank activity, reconcile accounts monthly, and manage cash, including petty cash records.
  • Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and quarterly fixed asset reconciliations.
  • Coordinate with vendors and internal management for timely invoice receipt, expense recording, and bill payments.
  • Allocate invoices, accrue costs, and generate check runs and electronic payments.
  • Maintain vendor relationships, research discrepancies, and ensure accurate record-keeping for disbursements.
  • Ensure grant expenditures comply with federal, state, and local regulations and maintain knowledge of grant compliance requirements.
  • Prepare information for external audits and program funding audits.
  • Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures related to grants and implement compliance systems and processes.
  • Assist in internal and external audit preparations and annual budget preparation.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.

Experience

  • At least 3 years of experience in accounting or finance.
  • Experience with grants management and fund accounting preferred.
  • Experience with a non-profit preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics

  • Proficient with accounting software and Microsoft office suite.
  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and grant compliance requirements.
  • Experience with Oracle NetSuite desired.
  • Skilled in identifying and collaboratively resolving grant-related issues.
  • Possesses strong analytical skills for precise financial reporting and compliance.
  • Proficient at handling multiple tasks and adjusting to changing priorities.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills; comfortable interacting with individuals of varying financial literacy levels.
  • Strong organization and time management skills.
