Description

AP Professionals has partnered with a manufacturer in the Finger Lakes region that is looking to add an experienced Mechanical Engineer to their team. Open due to an upcoming retirement! The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for planning and designing tools, machines, and other equipment. The right candidate would hold over 10+ years of experience within mechanical engineering.  Previous background in CAD, Inventor, and SolidWorks required.

This is a full-time, direct hire opening that requires onsite work.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reports.
  • Assist drafters in developing the structural design of products using drafting tools or computer-assisted design (CAD) or drafting equipment and software.
  • Research, design, evaluate, install, operate, and maintain mechanical products, equipment, systems and processes to meet requirements, applying knowledge of engineering principles.
  • Confer with engineers and other personnel to implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions, and provide technical information.
  • Recommend design modifications to eliminate machine or system malfunctions.
  • Conduct research that tests and analyzes the feasibility, design, operation and performance of equipment, components and systems.
  • Investigate equipment failures and difficulties to diagnose faulty operation, and to make recommendations to technicians.
  • Develop and test models of alternate designs and processing methods to assess feasibility, operating condition effects, possible new applications and necessity of modification.
  • Develop, coordinate, and monitor all aspects of production, including but not limited to fabrication, and operation of product designs.
  • Specify system components or direct modification of products to ensure conformance with engineering design and performance specifications.
  • Perform hands-on assembly/troubleshooting of machines and mechanisms in the field.

Education

  • Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering

Experience

  • 10+ years of experience in similar role
  • Knowledge in Computer-aided design (CAD) software — Autodesk AutoCAD software; Inventor; SolidWorks CAD software; UGS I-DEAS; Zeemax software
  • Previous background with design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
  • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of circuit boards, processors, chips, electronic equipment, and computer hardware and software, including applications and programming.
  • Ability to provide customer needs assessment, meet quality standards for services, and evaluate customer satisfaction.
