Description

AP Professionals has partnered with an established Engineering firm who has been in business for decades in search of a Mechanical Project Manager. Design and collaborate on building projects for HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection systems.

Responsibilities

  • Capable of preparing calculations, design narratives, drawings, specifications, and cost estimates for HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection systems for various building projects.
  • Proficient in reading and creating drawings using AutoCAD or Revit BIM; experience with BIM is an advantage.
  • Responsible for providing construction administration services, including submittal reviews, responding to RFIs, conducting inspections, and creating punch lists for engineer-designed projects.
  • Travel to project sites across NY and PA for client meetings, field investigations, and construction administration as required.
  • Reporting to the Principal Electrical Engineer, the ideal candidate should be able to work independently, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and effectively lead the mechanical engineering team.
  • Responsible for collaborating with and mentoring a Mechanical Design Engineer who will be assigned to support projects.

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology from an ABET-accredited program.

Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in building-specific or consulting engineering, with a PE license in NY and the ability to obtain licensure in multiple states.
  • Experience in designing air handling, hydronic, and steam systems is required.
  • Preferred experience in the Healthcare, Higher Education, and Government/Municipal sectors.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics

  • Demonstrated proficiency in utilizing AutoCAD and Revit BIM in a design production environment.
  • Must be physically able to perform field investigations of existing mechanical systems, including working in hot steam rooms, climbing ladders, and navigating congested mechanical spaces.
  • Willingness to travel regionally (up to 300 miles) to represent the firm at all project stages, including overnight stays, which typically account for approximately 10% of the workload.
