Description

AP Professionals has a construction client in need of a solid Payroll Manager with expertise in Sage.  This company performs all payroll functions in-house for its 300+ employees across multiple unions and within 4 separate payrolls.  The payroll manager is part of the accounting team and will work closely with the human resources manager.  They will oversee (and act as back-up for) the payroll specialist, who collects and enters employee time reports inorder for the payroll to be processed.  A strong eye for details, accuracy, and the ability to manage the payroll timeline is critical to the success of this position.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the entire weekly payroll process for the company with one support staff utilizing Sage 300CRE payroll system.
  • Supports and enforces on-time submissions with pro-active communications across the business- with employees and supervisors, etc.
  • Responsible for the resolution of  payroll issues as they occur with the use of technical support and others dependent upon the identified issues.
  • Review approved employment forms to determine each employee's unique employment status, pay rates and terms for payment of wages.
  • Process and prepare payroll checks for distribution to appropriate parties.
  • Prepare periodic state and federal payroll tax filings.
  • Prepare payroll related analysis, production records, and customer related billing reports.
  • Assume responsibility for all unscheduled payroll transactions.
  • Handle payroll adjustments after verifying with the appropriate supervisor.
  • Manage the billing function, which includes preparation and submission of invoice to customer and / or entry into customer applications.
  • Become familiar with the details of customer contracts to ensure customer billing conforms to the provisions of the contractand are accurate.
  • Provides customer assistance as needed- to internal and external customers.
  • Assist with preparation of various reports for operations management.

Education

While this position does not require a bachelor's degree, foundational accounting knowledge is strongly preferred.  An asosociate's degree in business with accounting classes will be entertained along with other educational backgrounds so long as there is demonstrated knowledge and expertise in payroll and accounting.

Experience

  • Prior experience with processing prevailing and union wages.
  • Familiarity with  civil works preferred.
  • 4+ years of experience in payroll and /or billing functions.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics

 

  • Must be skilled in the use of office technology- specifically Microsoft Office and its products.
  • ABle to effectively interact wth customers both inside and outside the organization with tact, discretion, and professionalism.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient with payroll software.
