Description

AP Professionals has partnered with an established, local manufacturing company that has been in business for over a century in search of a Product Engineer. The ideal candidate will be responsible for delivering comprehensive engineering specifications for original equipment orders. The Product Engineer will collaborate with CAD modelers/designers, technical sales, manufacturing engineering, planning, and operations to perform duties and responsibilities. This is an on-site position.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts ASME Code and mechanical design calculations for mixers, oversees the creation of designs, and approves/releases product designs for production or procurement.
  • Approves and releases product designs for manufacturing or procurement, contributing to design improvements that enhance manufacturability and assembly efficiency.
  • Reviews original equipment orders and identifies/requisitions materials with long lead times.
  • Examines customer specifications and exceptions to ensure alignment with internal order documentation.
  • Assesses the condition of returned equipment for repair or reconditioning and establishes new performance ratings.
  • Assists Technical Sales by reviewing customer requests for quotations.
  • Frequently collaborates with customers to resolve technical issues.
  • Approves, interprets, and creates manufacturing drawings, including those incorporating GD&T.
  • Ensures adherence to engineering standards for existing products, including completing the Engineering Change Notice (ECN) process and overseeing maintenance projects for existing products.
  • Evaluates manufacturing processes by conducting research and applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials; consults with equipment vendors and gathers feedback from operators.
  • Supports LEAN initiatives by developing and following standardized processes to minimize variations in quality and procedures.
  • Understanding and ensuring compliance with ASME B&PV Code Section VIII requirements and associated documentation.
  • Possesses knowledge of heat treating, welding, machining, and fabrication methods and processes.
  • Leads engineering projects and drives process improvement initiatives.
  • Upholds product and company reputation by adhering to government regulations and company policies.
  • Enhances professional expertise by attending workshops, reviewing industry publications, building networks, and participating in professional organizations.
  • Contributes to team success by being proactive, self-motivated, and completing related tasks as needed.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.

Experience

  • 2-5 years of engineering experience required.
  • Experience in designing ASME Code pressure vessels using PV Elite, Compress, or Design Calcs is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics

  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and familiar with CAD software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or equivalent programs.
  • Proficient in applying advanced mathematical concepts and statistics to solve problems.
  • Ability to read and understand documents such as safety guidelines, operating procedures, maintenance instructions, and manuals.
  • Capable of writing routine reports and correspondence.
  • Able to effectively communicate with groups of customers or employees and address common customer inquiries or complaints.
  • Skilled in reading, analyzing, and interpreting complex ASME Code documentation.
  • Ability to understand a wide range of technical instructions presented in mathematical or diagrammatic form and manage both abstract and concrete variables.
