AP Professionals is partnering with a local manufacturing company in search of a Production Maintenance Manager. The Production Maintenance Manager role entails overseeing the maintenance operations of manufacturing and packaging equipment at the Rochester, NY site. Responsibilities include providing both administrative and technical supervision to Production Maintenance Mechanics.


  • Leads the development and management of projects aimed at acquiring equipment necessary to support the business plan.
  • Coordinates both scheduled and emergency maintenance, repairs, and equipment improvements. Manages the ERP work order system, assigning tasks and preventive maintenance schedules to staff.
  • Identifies future maintenance needs and necessary equipment resources to align with the business plan.
  • Procures parts for preventive maintenance, routine jobs, work orders, and emergency repairs.
  • Supervises the Preventative Maintenance Program to ensure equipment is effectively maintained for functional efficiency and compliance with FDA regulations on formalized equipment maintenance systems.
  • Contributes to the Quality Improvement Program by conducting investigations, drafting response reports, and executing corrective actions for CAPAs related to Production Maintenance responsibilities.
  • Ensures alignment between staff and the organization's vision, values, goals, and strategies, fostering understanding of their relevance to daily tasks.
  • Manages employee performance by clearly defining job responsibilities and performance standards, monitoring progress, offering timely and comprehensive feedback, and promptly addressing any performance issues.
  • Supports successful organizational change by facilitating its implementation and acceptance among employees, championing change initiatives, and effectively managing ambiguity associated with change activities.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in HR policies and practices to effectively manage employees.
  • Optimizes resource allocation including finances, technology, and staff to achieve optimal outcomes.
  • Promotes continuous learning and development by staying updated on relevant technical knowledge and developments, leveraging this information to drive improvements and adapt to evolving requirements.
  • Cultivates an effective learning environment by coaching employees, facilitating learning opportunities, and providing impactful feedback to enhance performance and growth.
  • Offers comprehensive technical assistance to Production Maintenance mechanics across various skill domains including electrical, mechanical, controls, and operational theory.
  • Utilizes problem-solving skills to address equipment-related issues and assist in resolving operational challenges within Manufacturing and Packaging areas.
  • Provides technical guidance to project teams involved in new product introductions, line extensions, or process enhancements aimed at enhancing efficiencies or quality.
  • Actively participates in technical seminars and trade shows to stay updated on equipment-related advancements in the pharmaceutical industry, ensuring current knowledge of emerging technologies.


  • High School Diploma / GED


  • Possessing 15 years of Operations maintenance experience, with a preference for automated pharmaceutical manufacturing and packaging experience.
  • Demonstrating 3 years of supervisory experience.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics

  • Proficiency in liquid and solid packaging systems.
  • Familiarity with preventative maintenance management systems and maintenance techniques.
  • Strong fundamental understanding of mechanical systems and principles.
  • Knowledgeable in FDA, CGMP, NFPA, ADA, OSHA, and New York State and local regulations.
  • Skilled in budget management, encompassing expense budgets and capital project budgets.
  • Demonstrates adeptness in responding to maintenance issues and swiftly devising and executing solutions to uphold Manufacturing and Packaging operations' adherence to production schedules.
  • Establishes a proactive environment within Production maintenance, prioritizing anticipation of issues over reactive responses.
  • Ensures compliance with all regulatory bodies such as FDA, DEA, OSHA, NFPA, EPA, and relevant state and local codes.
  • Capable of managing a staff comprising non-exempt skilled trades.
  • Proficient in utilizing ERP systems for purchasing and managing Preventative Maintenance.
  • Utilizes the Trackwise quality management system effectively.
