Description

AP Professionals has partnered with a local company in search of a Purchasing Specialist! The Purchasing & Warehouse Specialist oversees inventory management, coordinates the procurement of parts according to project requirements, manages vendor relationships, receives shipments, and ensures the efficient operation of the warehouse. This role is essential to achieving the company’s goals and objectives in relation to inventory and supply chain management.

Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative, clerical, and system support for all procurement activities.
  • Manage purchase order processes, including entering data, placing orders, and expediting outstanding orders.
  • Communicate purchasing and delivery updates to key stakeholders such as Project Managers, Sales, and the Operations Manager.
  • Oversee the timely return of materials to suppliers, including Return Material Authorizations (RMA) and credit processing.
  • Verify deliveries by matching contents with packing slips and purchase orders.
  • Record material receipts, organize materials by project, and notify the team once all project-related items are received.
  • Collaborate with operations to stage materials according to project and technician needs.
  • Monitor and maintain minimum and maximum inventory levels for designated items, equipment, and tools.
  • Track and maintain monthly performance metrics for preferred suppliers.
  • Assist with creating and maintaining databases and spreadsheets as needed.
  • Adhere to company policies, procedures, and regulations for all purchasing activities.
  • Load and unload equipment and materials promptly to prevent project delays.
  • Ensure warehouse equipment is clean and properly maintained.
  • Receive and unload deliveries using hand trucks.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Education

  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • An Associate’s Degree in Business is preferred.

Experience

  • 1-3 years of experience in a purchasing and/or warehouse role is preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word).
  • Experience with QuickBooks software is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics

  • Knowledge of job costing and/or accounting is advantageous.
  • Ability to navigate relational databases and use the internet effectively is required.
  • Strong time management, attention to detail, and organizational abilities.
  • Familiarity with card access, fire alarm, and control systems.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
  • Solid mathematical skills with the ability to read, interpret, and create credit/debit reports.
