Our client, a leader in the financial services industry, is adding to their team!  This newly created position will support the Controller with month end and provide recommendations for process improvement and streamline the operations of the business. Responsibilities

  • Review balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements, statements of retained earnings, and other reports of financial information prepared for activity during a certain length of time, such as daily or monthly.
  • Research issues regarding application of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) to preparing financial statements and completing regulatory reporting.
  • Financial reporting, preparation, and analysis of consolidated accounts
  • Use general ledger accounting software to prepare monthly financial statements, reports and make journal entries.
  • Work with staff to assist in preparation of the quarterly Call report and other OCC and Fed regulatory reporting.
  • Documents accounting policies based on research of GAAP.
  • Development and compliance of accounting procedures, systems, and practices
  • Performs special projects as assigned, including GAAP research, analysis, and implementation into all Accounting Department processes.
  • Perform investment accounting entries and prepare monthly and quarterly investment portfolios and schedules. Monitor cash balances for purchase and P&I settlements.
  • Identifies process improvement opportunities and represents the Accounting Department in process improvement committees as needed.
  • Work with other members of the accounting team and other teams within the company in order to clear reconciling items in an efficient and effective manner.
  • Preparation and review of monthly reconciliation of general ledger accounts with supporting schedules
  • Assist with the quarterly and annual audits, internal and external.
  • Assist with Treasury projects as needed.
  • Record and maintain clear and accurate month end closing.
  • Familiarity with bank accounting functions and banking transactions, including ALLL, non-accrual loans, TDRs, foreclosures, deferred loan fees/costs.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business administration
  • 3+ years of related experience; or combination of equivalent education and experience
