Description

AP Professionals has partnered with a local food manufacturing company to find a Senior Accountant II. The Senior Accountant II will be Responsible for daily preparation and analysis of corporate accounting entries, reconciliations, and reports, coordinating third-party audit information, contributing to financial reporting and process improvements for newly acquired businesses, and potentially overseeing junior staff. This position is fully remote.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, review, and post month-end close accounting entries in compliance with GAAP standards, covering areas such as debt, factoring, month-end accruals (legal, consultants, etc.), other receivables, deposits, income tax entries, incentives, rebates, and AR reserves.
  • Maintain and update accounting records and files, including balance sheet reconciliations, according to company policies and processes.
  • Analyze actual results against budgets and communicate key drivers of variances to accounting leadership and finance teams.
  • Prepare and review recurring and ad-hoc financial reports for leadership.
  • Prepare and review year-end accounting disclosures and audit documents.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including finance, operations, supply chain, and tax, to understand business practices and support financial reporting and analysis.
  • Assist with the integration of newly acquired businesses, identifying and implementing accounting process improvements and synergies with the legacy business.
  • Work closely with operations to provide guidance on company accounting policies, processes, and controls.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
  • CPA strongly desired.

Experience

  • At least 3 years of experience in accounting.
  • Experience in the manufacturing or food industry desired.
  • Experience with inventory or cost accounting is a plus.
  • Experience with business combination accounting a plus.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics

  • Knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
  • Preferred experience in public accounting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • Ability to interpret and apply technical accounting guidance.
  • Self-starter and team player.
  • Capable of working independently and managing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong collaboration skills with the ability to diplomatically resolve challenges.
  • Positive attitude, eagerness to learn, and willingness to take on additional responsibilities.
  • Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
