Description

AP Professionals has partnered with a local food manufacturing company to find a Senior Accountant IIII. The Senior Accountant IIII is a technical accountant responsible for aligning the company's financial operations with current accounting practices and regulations, collaborating with the Chief Accounting Officer and Controller to ensure compliance, reporting accuracy, and the implementation of complex accounting standards while managing special projects and controls. This position is fully remote.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with outside consultants to conduct technical accounting research on various topics, drafting memos and preparing presentations to support financial decision-making and compliance with accounting standards, covering areas such as revenue recognition, contract modifications, lease treatment, purchase accounting, equity transactions, CECL, tax, IPO preparedness, and SOX compliance.
  • Assist in preparing financial statements and footnotes, ensuring accuracy through thorough data reconciliation.
  • Help coordinate audit activities and maintain accounting controls by developing policies and procedures to enhance internal controls and support financial accuracy and transparency.
  • Assist with the implementation of new accounting standards.
  • Work closely with internal and external stakeholders, including finance, operations, supply chain, and tax, to understand business practices and their impact on accounting, providing support for financial reporting and analysis.
  • Participate in technical evaluations of non-routine transactions, such as acquisitions, dispositions, and financing, and support year-end close activities.
  • Collaborate with operations to provide guidance on company accounting policies, processes, and controls.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
  • CPA strongly desired.

Experience

  • At least 3 years of experience in accounting.
  • Experience in researching accounting treatments and presenting findings.
  • Familiarity with business combination accounting is a plus.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics

  • Knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
  • Preferred experience in public accounting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • Ability to interpret and apply technical accounting guidance.
  • Self-starter and team player.
  • Capable of working independently and managing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong collaboration skills with the ability to diplomatically resolve challenges.
  • Positive attitude, eagerness to learn, and willingness to take on additional responsibilities.
  • Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
