Description

AP Professionals has partnered with a manufacturing company in search of a Senior Engineer for Military and Aerospace. This individual serves as the technical lead throughout the entire New Product Development Process. Additionally, the Senior Engineer may fulfill the role of a project manager, which involves creating a comprehensive project plan, assigning tasks, establishing milestones, and effectively communicating progress updates to both internal and external stakeholders.

This is a full-time, direct hire opportunity.

Responsibilities

  • Successfully oversee the entire life cycle of new product design projects, from initial proposal creation to development, qualification, and production.
  • Assess design feasibility to ensure achievement of performance, quality, cost, and schedule objectives.
  • Apply engineering principles proficiently to design and develop new products or make modifications to existing products.
  • Analyze test data and reports to determine whether the design meets functional and performance specifications.
  • Prepare or oversee the preparation of product layouts, detailed drawings, and schematics.
  • Coordinate and direct the manufacturing or building of prototype products.
  • Develop and coordinate activities related to risk mitigation and qualification test plans.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering.

Experience

  • A background in Aerospace is preferred.
  • Possesses 5 - 10 years of professional experience.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics

  • Demonstrates comprehensive problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of presenting complex technical data clearly and concisely.
  • Exhibits strong leadership qualities.
  • Proficient in computer skills, including CREO (preferred), FEA (Structural, Thermal, Magnetic, CFD), MATHCAD, and Microsoft programs such as Word, Excel, and Project.
  • Skilled in utilizing Lean and Six Sigma tools, including DFM (Design for Manufacturability), DFA (Design for Assembly), DFSS (Design for Six Sigma), and DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control).
  • Knowledgeable in project management principles, including planning, estimating, requirements management, and risk analysis.
  • Possesses a working knowledge of quality control, design assurance, and product reliability principles.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and a process-oriented mindset.
  • In-depth knowledge of various fabrication, joining, and finishing processes.
