Senior Optical System Engineer

AP Professionals has partnered with a manufacturing company in search of a Senior Optical Systems Engineer. The Senior Optical System Engineer plays a crucial role within the dynamic customer engagement team, responsible for creating customer proposals and attracting new, lucrative projects and business opportunities. This team usually consists of a Proposals Manager, a BD Manager, a Project Manager, as well as a Senior System Engineer and a Senior Optical System Engineer. In this position, the focus is on grasping the requirements of Life Sciences clients and transforming their needs into efficient and cost-effective system solutions.

• Cultivate and nurture enduring relationships with clients to promote our expertise and capabilities.
• Ideate and refine optical solutions through customer engagement activities.
• Apply optical principles to meet customer requirements effectively.
• Assess customer opportunities and recommend cost-efficient optical solutions.
• Translate customer requirements, needs, and visions into detailed optical design specifications.
• Craft the optical component of the Statement of Work (SOW).
• Negotiate and elucidate optical specifications to clients, clarifying tradeoffs as needed.
• Deliver presentations on optical system design, analysis, and test results to both customers and our internal leadership team.
• Create system layouts for optical instruments.
• Generate optical instrument concepts, assemblies, and subsystems using optical and engineering design tools like Zemax.
• Collaborate closely with electrical, mechanical, and software engineers to comprehend overall system requirements and specifications.
• Stay current with G&H's capabilities and remain at the forefront of optical manufacturing technology.
• Participate in conferences and seminars to champion G&H and its value proposition.
• Provide quotations for optics design work.

• Possess an MSc or PhD in Optical Engineering or a related discipline.

• Five years of experience in optical system engineering.

• Exhibit exceptional abilities in both verbal and written communication.
• Demonstrate familiarity with optical manufacturing processes.
• Display full proficiency in adhering to the ISO 9001/ISO 13485 framework.
• Exhibit strong interpersonal and collaboration skills.
