Description

AP Professionals has partnered with a local food manufacturing company in search of a Senior Technical Accountant. This position will provide technical accounting support for complex business transactions and be responsible for reporting, reconciliations, research, analysis, and maintaining a complete and accurate general ledger in accordance with U.S. GAAP.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical accounting support for ongoing business activities, including conducting research, documenting processes, and drawing conclusions in complex areas such as business combinations, divestitures, and equity method investments.
  • Draft and review detailed accounting treatment memos that document the rationale and application of GAAP standards, especially for complex transactions and financial reporting matters.
  • Assist in reviewing business contracts to identify and document key accounting considerations.
  • Aid in the ongoing compliance with ASC 842 (Leases) and ASC 606 (Revenue Recognition) standards, ensuring that accounting treatments align with the latest guidance.
  • Assist with the implementation of accounting standards relevant to the organization.
  • Analyze and record complex accounting transactions.
  • Perform general ledger account reconciliations as needed.
  • Assist in coordinating and supporting internal and external audits, as well as in the preparation and review of statutory financial statements.
  • Support the completion of external reporting and/or consolidated footnote disclosure reporting packages.
  • Strengthen the internal control environment by updating control narratives and process flow charts, and assisting in the remediation of identified control issues.
  • Develop systems to prevent errors in data collection and calculations.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
  • Master’s degree or CPA preferred.

Experience

  • At least 3 years of public accounting.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics

  • Strong financial expertise with a thorough understanding of accounting principles and practices.
  • Well-versed in U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) regulations and the Sarbanes-Oxley Act.
  • Experienced in financial report writing and analysis.
  • Possess excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
  • Highly detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy.
  • Proficient in account reconciliation processes.
  • Skilled in conveying complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders effectively.
  • Capable of working efficiently in a remote environment.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to manufacturing sites as needed.
  • Proficient in accounting software, ERP systems, and Microsoft Office, with advanced skills in Microsoft Excel preferred.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, leadership, and management skills.
  • Ability to perform well under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience in M&A and purchase accounting is advantageous.
