AP Professionals is partnering with a local manufacturing company in search of Software Controls Engineers of all levels. Newly created and open due to growth!  The Software Controls Engineer will play a pivotal part in developing, testing, and optimizing PLC, HMI, and robot programs for the manufacturing systems. Be involved from order initiation, to final acceptance. Collaborate with sales and field service teams to ensure customer expectations are succeeded. This is a fantastic team that has exciting growth potential!

This position is full-time, direct hire, and has flexible hours during the day. Ability to work from home when needed!

Responsibilities

  • Create PLC, HMI, and robot programs for new system requirements, utilizing multiple brands of controls hardware and various software languages such as Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Fanuc, Kuka, ABB, and Denso.
  • Work closely with our hardware controls engineers to select components and contribute to the design process.
  • Collaborate with our mechanical engineers on solution design, utilizing robot simulation tools to enhance the development process.
  • Conduct testing on electromechanical devices within the assembled system.
  • Verify software functions and validate the overall operation of the system.
  • Provide support to field service personnel as needed.
  • Effectively manage tasks and project deliverables in alignment with the project schedule.
  • Champion continuous improvement in software development and testing processes to surpass customer specifications.

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree (BS) in engineering
  • Associate’s Degree from an automation related program with experience

Experience

  • Experience with information systems as applied to industrial automation equipment.
  • Experience with automation components e.g., sensors, pneumatics, vision systems
  • Proficiency with PLC, HMI and robot programming for industrial automation equipment.
  • Proficiency with networking communications e.g., EtherNet/IP, ProfiNet

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics

  • Ability to collaborate with other engineers and disciplines to communicate technical information and effectively contribute to meetings, discussions and brainstorming sessions
  • Strong electromechanical aptitude
  • Must be able to work productively within a team environment
  • Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision
  • Must have strong written and oral communication skills
  • Proven ability to efficiently manage time and prioritize multiple tasks.
