Support the monthly financial reporting activities required to facilitate timely and accurate financial reporting which include but are not limited to:
- Analyze new and existing accounting guidance and federal regulations to ensure compliance with established standards.
- Interpret emerging accounting policies and make recommendations for changes to remain in compliance.
- Prepare ad hoc and required industry and regulatory reports including audit inquiries in compliance with internal and external regulations.
- Prepare/collaborate on presentations, reports, etc.
- Ensure compliance with internal and external documentation and disclosure requirements.
- Serve as a subject matter expert with internal and external auditors (e.g., NCUA, DFS, and contracted third parties) to address and resolve audit questions and/or findings.
- Provide expert guidance for application and implementation of new controls/processes and the analysis of highly complex transactions.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies by actively collaborating and communicating across business lines.
- Serve as resource for the resolution of complex and/or unique problems.
- Build and maintain relationships with team members, management, key stakeholders and/or external contacts.
- Participate in development and implementation of systems of large scope and scale.
- Monitor automated processes and reports for accuracy and completion; contribute to process improvements.
- Gather and prepare data for various financial, compliance and internal reports.
- Develop and recommend enhancements to improve operational processes and procedures.
- Support periodic regulatory reports preparing various schedules in a timely and accurate manner. Ensure weekly Federal Reserve reporting is completed. Responsible for ensuring proper supporting documentation is maintained.
- Support the preparation of the audited financial statements including preparing various schedules supporting footnote disclosures. Leverage system capabilities to automate reporting where possible.
- Support the quarterly forecasting process and annual operating planning process. Ensure budgeting & reporting system is functioning as designed. Work with vendor and cost center managers to implement improvements. Support calculations for noninterest income and expense.
- Provide back-up support for various functions on the team to ensure the continuity of all support services during the absence of any other member of the Accounting Department.
- Perform other related duties as assigned or appropriate.
Qualifications:
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting.
- Knowledge of financial and managerial accounting principles as applied in a financial services industry environment preferred.
- Ability to work with advanced spreadsheets, general ledger accounting systems and other general technology such as budget software.
- Strong communication skills including ability to communicate complex accounting concepts to non-accountants.
- Self-directed and self-motivated; must be able to address complex tasks with minimal guidance.
- Strong PC skills: Excel, Word and PowerPoint, and report writing and database software.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Graduate degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance or related field
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
- Certified Management Accountant (CMA)
- Banking/Financial industry experience
- Knowledge of Prologue accounting system
- Knowledge of the Axiom budgeting system
