Description

AP Professionals has partnered with a local food manufacturing company to find a Staff Accountant. The Staff Accountant will be responsible for daily preparation and analysis of corporate accounting entries, reconciliations, and financial statements, while assisting with the integration of newly acquired businesses and process improvements. This position is fully remote.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and post month-end close accounting entries, ensuring compliance with GAAP standards, covering areas such as prepaids, daily cash reconciliation, sales tax payable, payroll entries and month-end accruals, shipping analysis and freight accruals, and providing inventory support to the inventory lead.
  • Maintain and update accounting records and files, including balance sheet reconciliations, in accordance with the company's accounting policies and processes.
  • Analyze actual results against budgets and communicate key drivers of period-over-period variances to stakeholders, including accounting leadership and finance teams.
  • Assist with recurring and ad-hoc financial reporting for leadership use.
  • Prepare year-end accounting disclosures and documents for audits.
  • Collaborate with various stakeholders, both internal and external, including finance, operations, supply chain, and tax, to understand business practices and provide support related to financial reporting and analysis.
  • Assist with the integration of newly acquired businesses, identifying areas for accounting process improvements and synergies with the legacy business.
  • Help implement a new ERP system and design new accounting processes using the system's reports and functionalities.
  • Support the Controller in designing and executing controls for a Sarbanes-Oxley compliant environment.
  • Commit to teamwork to ensure timely, thorough, and high-quality outcomes in a high-growth, fast-paced environment.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
  • CPA preferred.

Experience

  • At least 6 months of accounting experience.
  • Experience in the manufacturing or food industry is desired.
  • Experience with inventory or cost accounting is preferred.
  • Experience with M&A is a plus.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • Experience with an accounting ERP system is a plus.
  • Self-starter and team player with a strong work ethic.
  • Strong attention to detail and a curious mindset for problem-solving.
  • Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
