Description

AP Professionals has partnered with a local manufacturer in search of a Technical Sales Manager. As a Technical Sales Manager, you will act as a liaison between our engineering teams and clients, ensuring our solutions fulfill and surpass the specific demands of defense applications. The perfect candidate will blend technical knowledge with excellent management abilities and sales proficiency to comprehend client requirements, showcase our products and solutions, and build enduring relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the engineering and project management teams to develop and deliver comprehensive technical and pricing proposals, including system specifications, project timelines, and cost estimates.
  • Conduct in-depth technical evaluations of client requirements, offering expert advice on implementing our interior communication systems in defense platforms.
  • Prepare and deliver persuasive technical presentations and demonstrations to government and industry decision-makers, highlighting the benefits and capabilities of our solutions.
  • Manage the inside sales department and oversee all key customer relationships.
  • Tailor product offerings to meet the specific needs of defense projects, addressing client concerns and requirements.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders in the defense industry, including military personnel, procurement officers, and defense contractors.
  • Stay informed about the latest advancements in communication technologies and defense trends to provide strategic insights and recommendations.
  • Attend defense industry trade shows, conferences, shipyards, and buyer meetings to represent our company, showcase our solutions, and expand our network of industry contacts.
  • Create technical content that emphasizes the value of our products in defense applications.
  • Provide post-sales technical support to clients, addressing any technical inquiries or issues that arise during the implementation and operation of our systems.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or a related technical field.
  • A Master's degree is a plus. Equivalent military experience will also be considered.

Experience

  • Experience in the Navy and knowledge of naval shipbuilding programs are highly advantageous.
  • Experience in a vertically integrated manufacturing environment.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics

  • Demonstrated success in technical sales within the defense industry, particularly with communication systems or related fields.
  • Extensive knowledge of interior communication systems used in naval vessels or defense platforms.
  • Strong understanding of military procurement processes, standards, and regulations.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, capable of conveying complex technical concepts clearly and effectively.
  • Willingness to travel (10% to 15% of the time) to client sites, industry events, and company headquarters as required.
  • Self-motivated, goal-oriented, and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Security clearance or the ability to obtain one is preferred.
