As the Vice President, Operations Controller, you will lead the operational accounting divisions encompassing residential and development accounting functions. Working closely with the Chief Financial Officer, accounting personnel, asset management, property management, and the Senior Leadership Team, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the financial integrity and efficiency of our operations.


  • Direct oversight of Development Accounting and Residential Accounting departments.
  • Leadership of two direct reports and management of a team comprising thirteen employees.
  • Supervision of monthly and annual financial closings, financial reporting, fixed asset accounting procedures, accounts receivables and accounts payables, and year-end audits.
  • Support in preparing monthly company updates and board materials as required.
  • Monthly ledger reconciliation and monitoring of job cost reports.
  • Management of monthly sources & uses reports for development projects, facilitating discussions during monthly financial review meetings.
  • Analysis of contracts and proposals in collaboration with leadership.
  • Ensuring compliance with operating, regulatory, and joint venture agreements.
  • Continuous enhancement of accounting procedures and processes.
  • Collaboration with Asset Management in budget preparation and quarterly projection modeling.
  • Providing analytical support to asset management and property management regional managers, including variance analysis, rent and operational expense analysis, and financial portfolio analysis.
  • Participation in monthly financial statement meetings and review sessions with asset management and property management teams.
  • Identification and implementation of process enhancements to improve efficiency and quality of work.
  • Utilization and analysis of reporting and data through Yardi application, DealPath, and Smartsheets.
  • Assisting the CFO with business and financial inquiries and activities.
  • Close collaboration with other accounting finance leaders.
  • Supervision, training, and development of accounting leaders and oversight of the broader accounting team.
  • Key participation as a member of the Senior Leadership Team.


  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
  • CPA preferred, though not required.


  • Preferred experience in affordable housing, real estate, or construction.
  • Minimum of ten years’ experience in accounting, including five years in supervisory roles, demonstrating progressive responsibility.
  • Experience in both public CPA firms and private companies.
  • Strong grasp of GAAP and technical accounting principles, with ability to adapt to evolving regulations.
  • Track record of success in advanced financial accounting and reporting.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, analytical prowess, and accuracy in communicating technical accounting, reporting, and compliance requirements.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
