Description

AP Professionals has partnered with a company near the Geneseo area in search of a Logistics Supervisor. Reporting to the Sr. Fleet and Logistics Manager, the Logistics Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the entire order-to-delivery process. This role manages the effective use of drivers and trucks to build capacity, maximize productivity, and deliver prompt, courteous, and efficient service to all customers. Leading a team of Dispatchers, Customer Service staff, and CDL-A Drivers, the Logistics Supervisor must apply independent judgment and strong decision-making skills to ensure full compliance with company policies as well as federal and state regulations.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Base salary range: $75,000 to $85,000 annually

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

  • Foster a positive, collaborative company and departmental culture.
  • Manage daily routing and scheduling for all deliveries.
  • Supervise Dispatchers, Customer Service staff, and CDL-A Drivers in their daily responsibilities.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure a seamless internal and external customer experience, including responding to inquiries and requests.
  • Review data, verify hours of service, and oversee payroll entries in compliance with Federal, State, and FMCSA laws, regulations, and policies.
  • Monitor performance metrics, communicate results, and provide coaching and recognition based on outcomes.
  • Prioritize safety and hold employees accountable for safe daily operations.
  • Partner with the Safety Department to enforce company policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate with Human Resources and dispatch to maintain compliant driver files, including scheduling drug tests and medical certificate renewals.
  • Oversee equipment availability and assign drivers, trucks, and relief drivers as needed.
  • Direct Dispatchers to maintain regular communication with drivers, including managing responses to emergencies.
  • Remain available after-hours and on weekends to resolve urgent issues.
  • Maximize productivity by directing routes and making cost- and efficiency-based decisions.
  • Engage third-party carriers as needed, ensuring service and delivery standards are met.
  • Proactively identify and resolve potential delivery or service issues before disruptions occur.
  • Communicate with maintenance personnel and act as an emergency contact for mechanical or operational downtime.
  • Maintain accurate safety records, including training logs, incident reports, policies, and regulatory documents.
  • Collaborate with Accounting and the Fleet Administrator to manage auto insurance costs, renewals, and MCS-150 annual filings.
  • Ensure timely application and renewal of required permits, licenses, and certifications (e.g., overweight, federal, local, Canadian, and equipment registrations).
  • Oversee roadside inspection and citation records, respond to Data-Q challenges, and monitor company scores on regulatory platforms.
  • Support drivers and Dispatch staff with Samsara hours-of-service reporting, ensuring compliance and accuracy.
  • Partner with the Fleet Administrator to calculate and file quarterly fuel and highway use taxes, responding to audits, fines, and agency inquiries.
  • Identify opportunities for new technology adoption and process improvements.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Direct the daily workflow and performance of assigned drivers.
  • Assist with recruitment and retention, including interviewing, hiring, training, and coaching staff.
  • Oversee training programs for new hires to ensure accurate, effective onboarding and operational readiness.
  • Provide timely, constructive feedback and performance evaluations for team members.
  • Manage time-off scheduling and attendance for Dispatch Specialists and Drivers.
  • In partnership with Human Resources and the Logistics Manager, prepare and administer disciplinary documentation in accordance with company policy.

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Transportation, Logistics, or related discipline or equivalent work experience preferred.

Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in logistics, transportation, and/or people management (or related field).
  • Prior customer service experience preferred.

  • Flexible schedule with availability for after-hours and weekend support.
