The Accounting Manager is responsible for providing leadership and coordination of financial reporting and controls for their assigned Agency(ies). Responsibilities

  • Manages all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Leads the preparation and analysis of monthly financial statements, reviewing results with financial leadership as needed.
  • Collaborates with external auditors during the year-end audit by providing necessary documentation supporting financial reports.
  • Supports the development of financial documents required for IRS Form 990 filings for relevant entities.
  • Coordinates responses to audit information requests for assigned agencies.
  • Produces monthly comparative financial statements to identify, explain, and address any variances.
  • Oversees and prepares monthly journal entries as required.
  • Manages general ledger reconciliations and directs the monthly close process for designated agencies.
  • Supervises and provides guidance to assigned accounting team members.
  • Fosters a collaborative, positive, and service-oriented team culture.
  • Holds team members accountable for meeting performance standards.
  • Communicates effectively and promotes the sharing of best practices across the team.
  • Assists in the creation and implementation of accounting policies and procedures.
  • Identifies inefficiencies or gaps in financial processes and internal controls, and recommends solutions to enhance accuracy and effectiveness.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field.
  • CPA or CMA preferred.

Experience

  • At least 7 years of progressively responsible experience in accounting and finance.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics

  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and proficient in financial software.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise teams and oversee operational processes effectively.
  • Strong organizational skills with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Excellent analytical abilities and clear, effective communication skills.
  • Capable of working independently while managing tight deadlines.
  • Committed to promoting collaboration across departments and programs through constructive and respectful communication.
  • Complies with all relevant federal and state laws, including those related to confidentiality, privacy, billing, and documentation.
