Description

AP Professionals has partnered with a successful construction company in Rochester to find an Accounting Manager. The Accounting Manager will manage daily operations of the accounting department, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and the general ledger. Reporting to the Corporate Controller, this position is fully onsite and supervises four direct reports and summer interns.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the purchasing card and expense program.
  • Review and approve weekly check runs prepared by Accounting Specialists. Collaborate with the Senior Treasury & Compliance Analyst on weekly cash disbursement and receipt facilitation.
  • Provide accounting support to the Operations team.
  • Ensure vendor records are accurate and compliant, such as W-9 collection and EIN numbers.
  • Assist the Corporate Controller with the annual external audit and other ad hoc audits, such as DOL and Sales Tax.
  • Oversee annual 1099 issuance with a third-party vendor.
  • Collaborate with a subject matter expert on Sales Tax compliance according to NYS Sales Tax law.
  • Oversee all internal communications from the accounting department to SBU/FBU.
  • Work with other departments on vendor/subcontractor risk mitigation.
  • Ensure proper internal controls and collaborate with the Senior Treasury & Compliance Analyst on process improvement and risk mitigation efforts.
  • Manage AI automation initiatives for applicable accounting processes.
  • Handle month, quarter, and year-end close tasks, including journal entries and reconciliations.
  • Recommend process improvements to increase departmental efficiency.
  • Collaborate with the Operations Support Group and IT on system enhancements.
  • Participate in special projects and initiatives as assigned.
  • Work with the Corporate Controller on the department’s vision for automation, technological advancements, and initiatives.
  • Demonstrate initiative and maintain appropriate, tactful communication across various organizational levels.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
  • MBA or CPA is a plus.

Experience

  • At least 7 years of accounting experience, preferably in construction accounting.
  • At least 3 years in a supervisory role.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and Adobe.
