Description

AP Professionals is partnering with a local law firm seeking an Accounts Payable Clerk. Looking for a detail-oriented individual to fill a staff role focused on processing all invoices within the firm, ensuring timely and accurate payments. Collaborating closely with our Finance team, the Accounts Payable Clerk plays a pivotal role in adhering to firm finance protocols. This position requires independent judgment and discretion in managing the daily processing and payment of invoices.

Responsibilities

  • Organizes, duplicates, and presents invoices for proper approval prior to payment and archival.
  • Determines priority and evaluates all firm invoices to facilitate timely settlement.
  • Allocates invoices to the corresponding ledger account through analysis of invoice and expense reports, and records entries accordingly.
  • Executes weekly issuance of checks from the firm's accounts using the Aderant financial management system.
  • Computes sales taxes by assessing obligations based on settled invoices.
  • Manages W-9 procedures for new vendors and compiles and submits 1099 forms to the IRS.
  • Administers disbursement of funds from the firm's attorney trust accounts.
  • Follows up with vendors to rectify and/or clarify invoice discrepancies when necessary.
  • Digitally captures invoices into the accounting system to facilitate accessibility for other firm personnel.

Education

  • Bachelor's or Associate's degree in Business or a related field, along with one (1) to three (3) years of advancing responsibilities in roles like basic account management and customer service representation; prior experience in a legal or professional service environment is preferred; OR
  • An equivalent blend of education, experience, and/or relevant professional certifications demonstrating capability to fulfill the duties of the role.

Experience

  • Experience in utilizing financial management software applications (experience with Aderant is advantageous); willingness to embrace new technological advancements
