Description

AP is partnering with a local manufacturing company in search of a Cable Technician. This position involves the installation and servicing of various cabling systems, including Cat 5E, Cat 6, 6A, Fiber Optic, AV, and coaxial cables. Ideal candidates will possess a mechanical aptitude, excellent organizational skills, strong communication abilities, and troubleshooting experience in field installations.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the timely and cost-effective completion of installation projects, adhering closely to budgetary constraints and project deadlines.
  • Execute various tasks including but not limited to closet buildouts, meticulous cabling installations, precise terminations, thorough testing, and comprehensive certifications to ensure optimal performance of installed systems.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in fiber terminations, operation of Optical Time Domain Reflectometer (OTDR), and utilization of fiber testing equipment. Candidates with experience in these areas are highly preferred.
  • Maintain a proactive approach to daily assignments and work orders, efficiently scheduling and prioritizing tasks to meet project timelines. Strive for excellence in all aspects of work, maintaining a high standard of professionalism and attention to detail throughout.
  • Ensure adherence to relevant codes and industry-standard practices to maintain compliance and safety in all work activities.

Education

  • Possess a High School Diploma or equivalent educational qualification.

Experience

  • Preferably have a minimum of one to two years' experience in the installation of Cat 5E, Cat 6, 6A, Fiber Optic, and coax cabling, with strong troubleshooting skills considered a valuable asset.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics

  • Possess a comprehensive understanding of work orders, product specifications, and blueprints to accurately assess service and repair requirements for all cabling systems.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in utilizing appropriate test equipment to conduct thorough testing and certification processes, with the capability to perform necessary repairs as deemed necessary.
  • Exhibit strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills, enabling effective resolution of system problems and failures as they arise.
  • Collaborate effectively within a team environment, fostering positive working relationships and contributing to collective goals.
  • Display willingness to travel as required for project assignments.
  • Adaptability to work both outdoors and indoors, regardless of weather conditions, to fulfill job requirements.
  • Possession of OSHA 10 certification is advantageous.
  • Possession of Scissor and Boom Lift certifications is desirable.
  • Hold a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
