Description

AP Professionals has partnered with a longstanding local company in search of a Divisional Controller. The successful candidate in this role will be highly skilled and results-driven, overseeing financial operations, and ensuring accuracy, compliance, and strategic support across multiple areas. This position is fully onsite.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the accurate and timely preparation of financial statements in compliance with relevant accounting standards.
  • Supervise the monthly close process, including reconciliations and journal entries.
  • Manage the revenue and cost cycles, including billings, contracts, and service deliveries.
  • Provide financial performance analysis, including budget-to-actual and forecast comparisons, to key stakeholders.
  • Analyze cash flow to ensure effective cash management and financial stability.
  • Collaborate with teams to track market trends, sales, and commission calculations.
  • Stay updated on emerging tax trends and advise on potential tax risks and opportunities.
  • Coordinate with other entities to reconcile intercompany accounts.
  • Implement cost accounting strategies to identify profitability drivers across business units.
  • Ensure compliance with tax regulations and oversee tax planning and reporting.
  • Prepare tax reconciliations and manage accruals.
  • Monitor and support state compliance and tax return filings.
  • Assist in divisional and consolidated reporting to leadership.
  • Develop and implement financial policies and procedures to improve efficiency and accuracy.
  • Collaborate with other departments to support business objectives and goals.
  • Provide financial analysis to guide strategic decision-making.
  • Contribute to additional projects as needed.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • CPA or CMA preferred.

Experience

  • Progressively responsible accounting experience with a strong background in income taxes, corporate taxes, multi-state tax, and book-to-tax reconciliations.
  • Public accounting experience a plus.
  • Experience in the manufacturing industry preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics

  • Experience or interest in using AI/RPA for task automation and process improvements.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365, especially Excel, Word, and Access.
  • Knowledge of MAS or Sage Accounting System is a plus.
  • Strong analytical, quantitative, and critical thinking abilities.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills with keen attention to detail.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and team collaboration skills.
  • Self-motivated, able to work independently in a fast-paced environment, and committed to assisting the team.
