Description

AP Professionals is partnering with a local company in need of an Electro-Mechanical Engineer. The Electrical-Mechanical Engineer is responsible for ensuring compliance with company quality standards by offering comprehensive support to the engineering team. This role involves designing, engineering, programming, and troubleshooting all equipment, systems, and processes related to company operations to meet or exceed quality benchmarks.

Responsibilities

  • Independently design, develop, implement, and evaluate technical products and systems while adhering to established standards.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Engineering to devise innovative solutions for complex engineering and maintenance challenges, demonstrating proficiency in mechanical, chemical, and electrical engineering principles through research and problem-solving.
  • Execute system design tasks including drafting system design specifications, creating piping and instrument diagrams (P&IDs), constructing logic diagrams, conducting process flow calculations, assessing hydraulic resistance, determining equipment sizing, conducting FMEA evaluations, and analyzing thermodynamic and heat/fluid flow transfer.
  • Conduct technical activities such as initial design, component selection, fabrication, mechanical assembly, precise alignment, modification, troubleshooting, and maintenance of company processing equipment.
  • Research engineering codes, standards, building permits, regulations, and company directives, ensuring compliance and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives alongside Operations, Maintenance, and Engineering teams.
  • Develop and review detailed design drawings and specifications for mechanical equipment, dies, tools, and controls using computer-assisted drafting (CAD) software.
  • Create standard work procedures (SOPs) for new processes and troubleshoot issues with automated programming, PLC, and HMI systems, including setup, configuration, and maintenance of ethernet-controlled equipment.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in field instrumentation, including IO design and electrical connections to automation systems, while generating equipment Bill of Materials (BOM) and recommending spare parts for preventative maintenance schedules.
  • Deliver equipment training sessions to Supervisors, Lead Personnel, Shift Trainers, and other staff members as necessary.
  • Optimize PLC programs and Scada Systems to enhance efficiency and problem-solving capabilities, proactively identifying opportunities to reduce re-work and waste, and communicating potential hazards to management.
  • Manage expenses related to building and grounds maintenance, equipment repair, preventive maintenance, technology enhancements, and facility upkeep.
  • Foster a collaborative team environment by supporting colleagues and treating management, co-workers, and employees with respect, while adhering to company policies and rules, as well as federal and state laws.
  • Prioritize safety by following established policies and procedures, identifying opportunities to improve safety protocols, prevent accidents, and contribute to a safe working environment at the company.
  • Fulfill additional duties as assigned.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

Experience

  • At least 2 years of experience in electrical or mechanical engineering maintenance, preferably in an manufacturing setting or similar setting.
  • Proficiency in PLC and Scada programming.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics

  • Proficient in understanding and managing electrical, electronic, and mechanical systems, including their interplay.
  • Skilled in the installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of control and alarm systems.
  • Capable of interpreting, programming, upgrading, and troubleshooting PLC ladder logic or other PLC-based code to address complex issues or enhance machine performance.
  • Proficient in reading and creating schematics and P&IDs.
  • Experienced and adept in AutoCAD usage.
  • Comfortable with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and other relevant software.
  • Demonstrates highly effective interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Exhibits strong verbal and written communication abilities, with the capacity to convey technical information clearly.
  • Possesses expertise in commonly utilized electrical engineering principles, practices, and procedures used in many different industries.
  • Embraces lifelong learning, maintaining an attitude of continuous improvement regarding the engineering of various types of equipment, systems, and processes.
  • Displays strong interpersonal skills and collaborates effectively with colleagues.
  • Willingness to work extended hours as necessary and available for emergency response.
