Responsibilities

  • Manage the financial reporting cycle, including the timely preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements along with all supporting schedules.

  • Ensure all financial reports and filings adhere to GAAP and internal accounting policies; establish and document new policies as needed.

  • Design, implement, and maintain robust internal controls to uphold the accuracy and integrity of the financial reporting process.

  • Serve as the primary liaison with external auditors, managing the audit process from planning through completion and addressing any findings promptly.

  • Conduct detailed financial analysis to identify trends, risks, and opportunities, supporting strategic planning and informed decision-making.

  • Partner with key stakeholders across finance functions, including Operational Finance, FP&A, and Tax, to align on reporting standards, share best practices, and drive cohesive financial strategies.

  • Provide leadership, coaching, and professional development to staff accountants; promote a culture of continuous improvement and team engagement.

  • Lead the preparation and delivery of core financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements. Maintain and monitor the monthly financial close checklist.

  • Continuously assess and enhance financial reporting systems and workflows to improve accuracy and efficiency.

  • Review financial data and reports for completeness and consistency; investigate and resolve any anomalies or discrepancies.

  • Stay current on evolving accounting standards and regulatory requirements; maintain effective communication with regulatory bodies and external stakeholders on reporting-related matters.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
  • Graduate degree a plus, but not required
  • CPA license or currently pursuing certification is preferred

Experience

  • Prior experience leading or managing the financial close process
  • Knowledge of percentage of completion and other construction industry accounting nuances
