Description

AP Professionals has partnered with a well-known college in search of a Financial Services Coordinator. The ideal candidate will counsel students and parents on financial matters including tuition and fees, room and board charges, billing statements, and loans, while also working directly with corporations and agencies on billing and collections. This is a temporary position with potential to be temp-to-hire.

This position is Monday through Friday, 8AM to 4:30PM, and pays $21-23/hour.

Responsibilities

  • Provide exceptional service to students, parents, the university community, and external stakeholders regarding a wide range of student financial services.
  • Deliver timely and accurate information to students, families, and university departments regarding tuition, room and board, fees, payments, financial aid, and third-party credits.
  • Perform detailed work in areas including third-party billing, collections, student account services, accounts receivable, cashiering functions, and the Federal Perkins Loan Program.
  • Conduct outreach to students and parents to resolve account balances. Recommend appropriate payment plan solutions and exercise sound professional judgment in resolving past-due accounts.
  • Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of applicable university policies and relevant federal and state regulations related to financial aid programs, including but not limited to Federal Title IV Programs, NYS TAP, State VR programs, university-funded aid, alternative loan programs, college savings and prepayment plans, and other financing and payment options.
  • Maintain thorough working knowledge of the PeopleSoft Campus Solutions system and other student administrative platforms to ensure efficient and accurate processing of account adjustments, third-party billings, and deferment programs.
  • Support the testing and implementation of new functionality within PeopleSoft, including interfaces with internal departments and external agencies.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of federal loan programs to advise students on repayment and consolidation options. Educate students and families on the consequences of loan default and its impact on credit, while proactively identifying solutions to avoid default.
  • Handle incoming calls, process financial transactions, and provide in-person counseling to walk-in customers.
  • Complete additional tasks and special projects as assigned by management.

Education

  • Associate degree in Business Administration or Accounting preferred; equivalent combination of education and relevant experience will be considered.

Experience

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, web browsers, and enterprise systems such as Oracle Financial Applications and PeopleSoft Campus Solutions (or comparable platforms).
  • Familiarity with FERPA and other applicable information privacy regulations preferred.

  • Ability to build and maintain productive relationships across academic and student service departments to proactively resolve academic or financial concerns.
