AP Professionals has partnered with a local non-profit to find a Human Resources Generalist that will support the organization with a variety of HR related duties.  This position is fully on-site and is scheduled for part-time 25 hours per week which offers great work/life balance (days/hours are flexible).  The role is part of a collaborative HR team that works together to support the organization mission.  The organization is forward thinking and is looking for someone who is interested in updating processes and finding ways to automate where possible.

The position will require a drug screen and background check. 

Responsibilities

  • Lead the full-cycle recruitment process for frontline roles, including refining and implementing efficient systems and processes. Maintain open communication with hiring managers and HR team members throughout the process.
  • Facilitate pre-employment, onboarding, and offboarding activities for all positions.
  • Administer the company’s benefits programs, acting as a liaison with brokers and insurance carriers. Complete monthly benefits billing reconciliation and support the HR director with annual open enrollment communications and execution.
  • Oversee the volunteer and internship programs, ensuring they align with organizational objectives.
  • Manage and monitor employee leaves of absence, including FMLA, PFL, workers' compensation, and disability programs, ensuring compliance with policies and regulations.
  • Provide administrative and technical support to the HR team, including responding to employment inquiries, managing HRIS (ADP) data and processes, and maintaining personnel files in accordance with company policies and legal requirements.
  • Leverage advanced Excel skills to create HR reports and analyze key metrics.
  • Perform regular audits to ensure the accuracy and integrity of HR data.
  • Maintain both physical and electronic staff bulletin boards, ensuring compliance with federal and state posting requirements.
  • Offer guidance on HR policies and procedures, including updates to the employee handbook.
  • Support the coordination and delivery of employee training sessions.
  • Collaborate with the HR team on wellness program initiatives.
  • Apply critical thinking to identify solutions and enhance HR processes.
  • Participate in seminars and conferences to stay informed on HR-related topics and best practices.
  • Attend HR team, general staff, and other relevant meetings as required.
  • Assist the HR team in benchmarking and adopting best practices from other organizations.
  • Serve on company committees, project teams, and process improvement initiatives as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as needed to support team and organizational objectives.

Education

  • Associate degree in business administration, human resources management, or a related field.

Experience

  • 3-5 years of professional experience in human resources.
  • Experience designing and executing effective recruitment strategies, including managing the full recruitment cycle.

  • Proven ability to take initiative, follow through on tasks, and work efficiently in a fast-paced, collaborative team environment while demonstrating flexibility and adaptability.
  • Knowledge of benefits administration, including eligibility requirements, enrollment processes, and regulatory compliance.
  • Results-oriented and customer-focused, with the ability to manage competing deadlines and shifting priorities while maintaining organization, attention to detail, and high-quality work standards.
  • Capable of maintaining subject matter expertise and applying newly acquired knowledge to job responsibilities.
  • Proficient in using Excel to create employment reports and analyze HR metrics.
  • Exceptional listening skills, strong diplomacy, maturity, and the ability to balance empathy with objectivity.
  • Aptitude for quickly learning and utilizing HR systems, including HRIS (ADP), Adobe Acrobat, and other tools as required.
