Description

AP Professionals is partnering with a local company in search of an Linux Systems Administrator. The IT System Administrator at leads the management of Linux and Windows servers supporting various services, including domain controllers, file servers, print servers, databases, backups, web, and application servers. The role requires proactive troubleshooting, technical expertise, strong communication, and adaptability to a dynamic environment, with essential experience in diverse server technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in implementing and supporting all ITIL processes for the server environment, including incident, change, and asset management.
  • Provide support for systems both on-site and remotely, with proficiency in Windows Server OS, Linux (Ubuntu/Rocky), and additional experience being advantageous.
  • Develop and update operational support documentation to ensure effective management of systems.
  • Adhere to established procedures to maintain consistency and standardization within the environment.
  • Contribute to client consulting, project management, and execution activities.
  • Be available for on-call duties and other support tasks as required, even outside regular work hours.
  • Serve as a Linux Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the team and the company.

Education

  • Completion of a two-year college degree in an IT-related field, or equivalent relevant experience.

Experience

  • Comprehensive Linux proficiency encompassing CentOS/RHEL/Rocky 7+, and Ubuntu 18+
  • Experience with Ansible/AWX for automation.
  • Proficiency in Bash scripting, understanding of bash shell, profiles, environments, regular expressions, and other shell scripting.
  • Familiarity with command shell, X windows/graphical infrastructure, and desktop managers
  • Hyper-V experience.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics

  • Knowledge of basic hardware support, including troubleshooting, component replacement, initiating service calls, and handling warranty replacements.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in Linux (preferably Ubuntu/Rocky OS), with desired skills in Windows and other operating systems considered advantageous.
  • Possess a working knowledge of Linux OS, with preference given to experience with CentOS/RHEL/Rocky/Ubuntu.
  • Exhibit excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills, capable of effective communication at all organizational levels.
  • Demonstrate strong organizational abilities, meeting deadlines and managing multiple priorities effectively.
  • Adapt to changing business needs and priorities with multitasking abilities and flexibility.
  • Analyze problems and implement solutions using established practices and procedures.
  • Maintain a strong customer focus while working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingly embrace some level of risk to maintain momentum and drive progress.
