Description

AP Professionals is collaborating with a well established local manufacturer in search of an Operations Director. As Operations Director, you'll directly report to the President, overseeing all plant operations. Your role involves daily performance management of production, quality, maintenance, and safety, along with contributing to company-wide planning and budgeting. You'll lead capital expenditure projects, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and regulatory compliance. Your leadership will cultivate an innovative, inclusive culture, driving both short-term and long-term strategic visions. Talent development and recruitment will be key priorities to enhance organizational capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with the Production Manager to ensure optimal production staffing aligns with schedules and meets delivery requirements by resource optimization.
  • Facilitates operational staff meetings to enhance communication and streamline processes.
  • Mentors Operations Managers in soft skills and decision-making abilities to foster professional growth.
  • Coordinates management training for supervisors, managers, and lead operators to enhance leadership capabilities.
  • Provides oversight and leadership in conducting annual performance reviews.
  • Approves hourly rate increases while maintaining budget adherence and addressing wage compression concerns.
  • Ensures consistent application of the Attendance Policy across all departments.
  • Provides support, guidance, and final approval on personnel and policy-related issues, including disciplinary actions, training plans, promotions, demotions, new hires, and terminations.
  • Approves and schedules coverage for Operations management PTO and absences.
  • Oversees preventive maintenance programs across all areas.
  • Ensures compliance with safety and environmental regulations and addresses corrective action requests (CARs) and customer complaints.
  • Interacts directly with customers as necessary, in coordination with the QA Supervisor and Director of Technical Services.
  • Plans and executes special projects assigned by the COO.
  • Adheres to and manages the Operations budget effectively.
  • Strictly observes all safety rules and procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Maintains an organized, neat, and clean work area.
  • Performs any other job duties as assigned.

Education

  • High school diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent qualification required.
  • Bachelor's degree (BS/BA) or relevant experience considered.

Experience

  • Previous management experience is advantageous.
  • Experience with MS Office, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, company ERP system, and scheduling software.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills necessary.
  • Strong organizational abilities are essential.
  • Willingness to travel as required.
  • Ability to comprehend safety rules, job tickets, and procedural manuals.
  • Basic arithmetic skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division are required.
  • Consistent attendance is mandatory.
  • Flexibility to work overtime when necessary.
