AP Professionals is searching for a contract, bilingual Pharmacy Technician! The Pharmacy Technician supports staff pharmacists in the daily operations of the pharmacy. Responsibilities may include customer service, preparing prescription orders, delivering medications to patients (when applicable), assisting with inventory management, and maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the pharmacy’s dispensing area.
This is a full time contract opportunity and is 100% onsite; must be bilingual. Pay will range from $19 to $21 per hour, based on experience. This is an immediate need, starting as soon as possible.
Script Data Entry
- Review the refill queue and process prescription refill requests.
- Contact prescribers for refill authorizations as necessary.
- Input insurance details, along with patient and provider demographic information.
- Monitor the Processing Exceptions queue for unresolved denied claims and notify the Third Party Specialist when appropriate.
- Direct workflow tasks to the appropriate team members or processes.
Filling
- Check the fill queue regularly to identify and prioritize prescriptions for filling.
- Organize prescription batches by patient for pharmacist verification. This may include:
- Counting and transferring medications into prescription vials or using manufacturer packaging
- Applying labels to each dispensing unit
- Affixing any required auxiliary labels
- Following batch preparation procedures per workflow
- Using an alternative counting surface for medications with allergy potential
- Verifying medication accuracy and checking expiration dates
- Referring medications requiring measurement to a pharmacist or pharmacy intern
Dispensing (Point of Sale)
- Confirm patient demographic information on all point-of-sale transactions to ensure accuracy.
- Request valid identification when required by law.
- Patients without proper identification should be referred to a pharmacist.
- Ensure pharmacist consultation for all new or modified prescriptions.
- Offer pharmacist counseling for all other prescription pickups.
- Provide secure packaging for all transactions and prepare items for shipping when necessary.
- Adhere to all applicable regulations and laws (e.g., controlled substances, Combat Methamphetamine Act, HIPAA).
