It's a hands-on role with training in optical metrology equipment. Successful candidates demonstrate engineering aptitude, analytical skills, and a commitment to customer trust through urgency and ethical conduct. Apply today if you meet these qualifications!

  • Conduct mechanical measurements on plastic optical parts (molded, machined) using standard dimensional metrology.
  • Program and execute measurements using Zeiss Micura CMM, Mitutoyo CMM, and OGP Flash 302 (multi-sensor CMM). Programming training will be provided.
  • Perform optical inspection using an interferometer, profilometer, and optical bench metrology methods. Training will be provided.
  • Develop Excel-based solvers.
  • Analyze the capability of measurement systems.
  • Ensure quality inspectors comprehend the necessity of performing and documenting measurements within established engineering conventions and quality system procedures.

Product Realization:

  • Review new opportunities from sales, ensuring all requirements are captured, and provide design for manufacturing (DFM) feedback to help qualify new opportunities.
  • Review new drawings and procedures before production release to ensure accurate information gathering.
  • Collaborate with customers, production, and engineering teams to establish agreed-upon inspection and test criteria, methods, and specifications.
  • Support new products by analyzing data from design experiments within Minitab to optimize the molding process and recommend additional data for support.
  • Work with diamond turning, Director of Quality and Technology, and QC for recuts of inserts to correct shrinkage in molded parts.
  • Collaborate with Molding, Machining, Tooling, Diamond Turning, and Coating teams to establish and monitor process parameters for quality parts.
  • Propose fixture designs required for custom test/inspection setups.
  • Develop and review test plans, protocols, and reports.

Production Support:

  • Perform and document routine in-process measurements as necessary.
  • Monitor ongoing molding via control charts and collaborate with manufacturing teams on process improvements.
  • Apply flash coating to sample parts using a vacuum coating chamber.
  • Address quality concerns with key customers, implementing effective corrective and preventative measures.
  • Actively participate in problem-solving activities, interacting with production departments to understand and resolve the root cause of issues.
